Step 1

Installation

Download the installer (free account required).
Close SOLIDWORKS, run GLBExpertSetup.exe, approve the admin prompt.
Start SOLIDWORKS → Tools → Add-Ins → make sure GLB Expert is checked.

Step 2

First export

Open a part or assembly.
Click Export GLB in the GLB Expert tab.
Pick a format (GLB / glTF / HTML), confirm options, done.

Whole folder at once? Use Batch Export in the same tab — pick an input and an output folder.

How does the free trial work?

5 exports, no time limit, all features enabled. When they are used up, buy a license and activate — no reinstall needed.

I reinstalled Windows / moved to a new PC. What now?

Sign in to your account, deactivate the old machine, then activate on the new one. Reinstalling only SOLIDWORKS or GLB Expert on the same machine re-activates automatically without using a seat.

What is the Activation ID in the About window?

A unique code identifying your activation. The same code appears on your account page — if they match, your copy is genuine and bound to your license.

My metal part looks gray/plastic in the viewer.

Assign a material (e.g. AISI 304) or a metal appearance in SOLIDWORKS — GLB Expert maps it to metallic PBR. Alternatively pick a “finish preset” (steel, chrome…) in the export dialog.

Can I convert a whole folder in one go?

Yes. Batch Export takes an input folder and an output folder, walks every .sldprt and .sldasm it finds, and writes one file per model in the format you choose. Files you already have open in SOLIDWORKS are left exactly as they were — the batch never closes or saves your own documents.

Which SOLIDWORKS versions are supported?

SOLIDWORKS 2022 or newer, 64-bit. GLB Expert is built against the SOLIDWORKS 2022 API and tested on that release; newer releases keep supporting those calls, so 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 work as well.

On SOLIDWORKS 2021 or older the add-in tells you so the first time you export. It may still work — most of the API it uses is much older than 2022 — but we have not validated it and do not sell it as supported. Use the free trial to confirm on your own machine before buying a licence. If it does not work, write to support@glbexpert.com.

Which Windows you need depends on your SOLIDWORKS release, not on us — SOLIDWORKS 2026 no longer supports Windows 10. The full table is on the system requirements page.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The license re-checks silently every 3 days and keeps working for 30 days without a successful check (you will see a reminder after 7). It recovers by itself the moment the computer is online again. Fully air-gapped networks are supported: create your account, link your licence key, then request offline activation from your account page. We approve the request and issue a signed licence file you can carry over on a USB stick.

My CAD workstation has no internet at all. Can I still activate?

Yes — offline activation. In SOLIDWORKS open GLB Expert → License → enter your key → 1. Save request file. Copy that file to any computer with internet, upload it on the offline activation page, download the response, and load it back with 2. Load response file. Offline licenses never expire and do not need periodic checks.

I forgot my password.

Use password reset — we e-mail you a link that is valid for 60 minutes. Setting a new password signs out all other sessions.
